Solution focused thinking is transforming schools in the UK and Europe.
It is part of a wider movement towards more positive approaches to behaviour,
discipline and leadership that seeks to identify and capitalise on resources.
It fits well with the underlying philosophy of education and with the
ideals and ambitions that still bring so many committed people to the
profession. It is supremely straightforward and pragmatic as well as having
applications at every level of the education system. Whether it is individual
professionals or entire staff groups who take up solution focused ways
of working, the impact on morale, the increased sense of effectiveness
and the growth in appreciation of students, colleagues and parents is
marked.
Managing Behaviour
Solution focused strategies are proving extremely
effective in managing behaviour both in and out of the classroom. This
course will introduce practical ways of addressing behaviour at individual
and classroom level. Like other solution focused applications it works
by identifying hopes and resources and by building from the smallest starting
points.
Schools and Education Introductory Course
This two day introduction will be aimed at the whole cross
section of professionals in education including psychologists, special needs staff,
teachers, school nurses and social workers. It will cover the same basic ground
as the 2 day general introductory course.
